Although NHCs are a new concept, the challenges behind them will feel familiar. What’s different is the need for buildings that can adapt as services evolve and communities grow.
In December 2025, we published a report - Making Neighbourhood Health Centres a Reality - that highlights why it’s so important to start with your own estate and base every decision on clear, actionable data.
And in March 2026, we were appointed to deliver 11 NHCs as part of the delivery of the Government’s Neighbourhood Health Centre (NHC) Development Programme, repurposing existing sites and transforming them into community health hubs that will evolve with the local population’s needs.
We can do the same for you too – by transforming your estate into modern, flexible health hubs in a cost-effective way to support your local community.
This handbook is designed to show how we can support you through the full NHC journey. We’ve outlined the four high-level stages of the process to show how we can help you – either end-to-end or at specific stages where you need a little extra support.
We know the process can feel complex and doesn’t always run in a straight line, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Together, we’ll help you create an NHC that works from day one and continues to deliver value for years to come.
Identifying the most suitable potential NHC locations based on population need, estate performance, planning considerations and financial viability.
Shaping a compliant, affordable and fundable proposal that can secure local and national approval.
Managing refurbishment, reconfiguration or construction to ensure safe, compliant and high‑quality outcomes.
Ensuring the NHC performs as it should once operational, with ongoing compliance, FM and continuous improvement.
